The Consejo Intertextil Español (CIE) is the most important independent body for coordination and representation within the textile and clothing sector in Spain. It is a point of reference for the textile sector in Spain and operates independently, free from the influence of governmental, political or professional bodies.

It is made up of 7 sectorial organisations:

• Spanish Knitwear Association
• Wool Textile Industry Association
• Cotton Textiles Industry Association
• Silk Textile Association
• Spanish Textile Industry Association
• National Association of Textile Printers, Finishers and Dyers
• Association of Textile Companies in the Autonomous Community of Valencia

CIE comprises 5,000 companies from the textile sector and from clothing, which employ around 165,000 people and have an average annual turnover of 12,000 million euros.

It also has contributing members such as the Centre for Textile Information (CITYC), technical institutes, foundations, business associations and consultancies.

Through its International Promotion Department and under the name of Textiles from Spain, the Consejo Intertextil Español promotes the internationalisation of the products and services of the textile companies .
